PASSION

In June 2008, Riley was 6 years old flipping through his TV channels. After turning to The Weather Channel, he was fascinated with a meteorologist standing in front of a green screen. Immediately, Riley was hooked, and continued to keep up with the channel on a daily basis. The 2008 Hurricane Season was quickly underway, and instead of spending his summer playing games or watching Spongebob, he was glued to his television set as storm after storm threatened the US. He payed close attention to each system, learning how they form, what steers them, and how they can become so intense.

Eventually, this passion would grow to include the wonders of severe weather and the heavy snows that threatened the country throughout the year. Riley began to become facinated with the weather happening right outside his own New Jersey home, and what each day would bring. Constant observation of weather events both on television and at home allowed Riley to obtain a hard working attitude and the confidence he needed to survive a highly competitive and challenging field.

Whether it be hurricanes, severe weather, or Nor'Easters, Riley continues to be amazed by the power of mother nature. He has taken this fascination and used it as motivation to work hard in everything he does so he can be the best meteorologist he can be.
